Cardiff Wife Killer Gets Life as Aunt Jailed for Cover-Up

Evidence presented in court detailed a calculated cover-up using impersonation, a relocated car, plus corrosive chemicals.

Overview

  • Alireza Askari admitted murdering his estranged wife, Paria Veisi, in April 2025 and received a life sentence at Cardiff Crown Court.
  • Prosecutors said he stabbed her four times and buried her beneath patio slabs, soil and freshly planted flowers at their former Cardiff home.
  • After the killing he texted her employer from her phone claiming she had gone to Iran for medical reasons, and he moved her car to bolster the lie.
  • South Wales Police arrested him on April 15 as he traveled from Birmingham to Cardiff and found canisters of caustic soda in his car, which prosecutors argued were intended to destroy remains.
  • Judge Mrs Justice Stacey noted CCTV from April 11 showing Veisi thriving after her recent separation, and Askari’s aunt, Maryam Delavary, was jailed for five years and six months for perverting the course of justice.
