Overview
- The collision occurred at Broadway and Langdon Street when a Malden Transportation bus serving the Devens School was making a legal left turn and was hit from behind by a black BMW.
- Surveillance video, cited by officials, shows the BMW change lanes seconds before impact and the strike pushed the bus into a city-owned light pole.
- Of 11 students on board, nine were taken to area hospitals for observation and two were released to parents; officials say the injuries are non-life-threatening and the children are expected to be OK.
- The bus driver and a staff monitor were not injured and remained with the students as multiple ambulances, fire units, and school staff assisted at the scene.
