Overview
- Flames erupted just after 5pm on Monday, sending a thick plume of smoke over the Beeston, Nottinghamshire, supermarket.
- Crews from Highfields Fire Station cordoned the area, used two breathing apparatus and two hose-reel jets, and declared the fire out by about 5:30pm.
- Images from the scene showed the car destroyed to a shell, with only wheels and part of the frame visible.
- Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service reported heat damage to nearby vehicles parked only inches away from the burning car.
- No injuries were reported, the car remained in a cordon after crews spoke with store staff, and some motorists were unable to access vehicles until the site was cleared.
