Car Crashes Into Campsie Hair Salon, Ignites Fire

Police are investigating the cause of the sudden acceleration into the shop.

Overview

  • Fire and Rescue NSW deployed about 30 firefighters and nine trucks to a Beamish Street salon after a car went through the front and set the shop on fire.
  • Crews gained control of the blaze and evacuated neighboring businesses and an upstairs solicitor before confirming everyone was accounted for.
  • The driver, a 30-year-old man, got out of the vehicle, received treatment at the scene, and was taken to hospital with no other injuries reported.
  • NSW Police took over the scene to determine why the car, reported stationary on Clissold Parade, suddenly accelerated into the premises.
  • The burned-out vehicle was towed from the salon and the busy road remained closed while firefighters and police processed the site.
