Capcom Will Make Monster Hunter Wilds Character and Palico Re-Edits Free

The company says the permanent change will arrive with a Version 2 update tied to the Ascendance expansion, signaling an effort to address player criticism.

Overview

  • Capcom confirmed it will remove the need to buy Character Edit Vouchers once the game gets its Version 2 update next year, allowing unlimited free re-edits for hunters and Palicos.
  • The company will delist Character Edit Vouchers from digital stores on 3 December and give every player 10 Character Edit Vouchers and 10 Palico Edit Vouchers for free on that date.
  • Vouchers will remain available for purchase until 3 December, and Capcom has said the timing prevents the vouchers from appearing on the Switch 2 eShop when the console port arrives on 4 December.
  • Players who already bought voucher packs will not receive refunds but can claim a Special Thank-You Pendant Set (Heavenly Hog and Beelzeboar) starting 3 December as compensation.
  • The change follows sustained player backlash over charging for appearance edits after a single free trial and comes as Capcom seeks to repair goodwill after Wilds underperformed and faced technical complaints since its February 2025 launch.
