Capcom Expands Onimusha: Way of the Sword Demo and Releases It on Switch 2

The update adds a new Oni Refuge quest, a Daidara boss encounter and a Kubi Akari save‑data charm ahead of the game's September 4 launch.

Overview

  • Capcom released the expanded Onimusha demo on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, and for the first time made a Switch 2 build available alongside patched versions on PS5, Xbox Series and PC.
  • The update extends the trial with a second quest set in the Oni Refuge and ends with a towering boss fight against Daidara that follows the demo’s original Ganryu encounter.
  • New trailers shown at Gamescom Opening Night Live preview additional enemies Ifuu and Burai, a duel between Miyamoto Musashi and Dokyo, and Musashi’s fully awakened Oni form.
  • Demo progress does not carry into the full game, but players who keep their demo save file can claim the in‑game Kubi Akari charm via the Spirit Mirror after launch.
  • Onimusha: Way of the Sword remains scheduled to launch on September 4, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2 and PC, and Capcom has provided a PC benchmark tool and sizable platform patches (PS5 users reported a ~9.6GB update).
