Capcom Confirms Hard Mode for Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen

Capcom says the mode will restore a tougher endgame for level‑capped players following the Dark Arisen expansion.

Overview

  • Capcom confirmed on Monday in a Steam Q&A that a Hard Mode is in development and is intended to give a “satisfying challenge” to seasoned players whose stats are at or near the level cap.
  • The company offered no details on mechanics, release timing, or whether Hard Mode will be limited to Dark Arisen owners and asked players to await further updates.
  • Dark Arisen itself is scheduled for release on October 9 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2 and adds a new northern region, two story experiences (Forsaken Dominion and Lost Rites) and a dozen dungeons.
  • Capcom also outlined near‑term updates: an August patch will increase weapon skill sets from four to six and other quality‑of‑life and performance fixes ahead of the expansion launch.
  • The Hard Mode announcement responds to player concerns that recent convenience changes, such as easier fast travel and removed microtransactions, had reduced late‑game tension and aims to rebalance challenge for long‑term players.
