CaoCao Moves to Commercialize Robotaxis With May Mobility and Abu Dhabi Partner

The agreements set up international pilots and local testing to validate technology ahead of a planned 2027 mass production run.

Overview

  • CaoCao and May Mobility announced a strategic cooperation on Thursday to explore large‑scale Robotaxi commercialization in Europe with CaoCao acting as fleet owner and operator and May Mobility supplying the autonomous driving system.
  • The company announced on Thursday the creation of an AI Innovation Center with the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Research Institute to support its RoboX transformation and the ‘Double 100k’ plan to deploy 100,000 Robotaxi and 100,000 Robovan by 2030.
  • A strategic accord signed Friday with Abu Dhabi’s K2 Group commits local resources and testing environments and sets a goal to begin on‑site testing in Abu Dhabi this year with plans to place initial Robotaxi vehicles for pilot operations.
  • May Mobility’s self‑described In‑situ AI, which integrates deep learning and a dynamic world model and has supported services in the U.S. and Japan, is presented by partners as the technical backbone for overseas pilots but the agreements are deployment plans rather than completed services.
  • Before wide commercial rollout CaoCao must complete local testing, regulatory approvals, infrastructure buildout and operator training, and those steps will determine how quickly cities see practical changes in ride availability, pricing and driving jobs.
