Overview
- The Canucks announced Thursday that general manager Ryan Johnson signed goaltender Chris Driedger to a professional tryout contract and also hired Sean Finn as an amateur scout.
- A PTO is a non-guaranteed training-camp deal that lets the team add short-term veteran depth without a roster commitment.
- Driedger, 32, spent the 2025–26 season with Traktor Chelyabinsk in the KHL where he went 8-9-2 with a 3.05 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage.
- He earned strong NHL backup seasons with Florida in 2019–20 and 2020–21 but has played only a handful of NHL games since 2021–22 after injuries and AHL time.
- Driedger will join Thatcher Demko, Kevin Lankinen and Nikita Tolopilo in camp and is expected to provide insurance and competition at training camp, which opens Sept. 17 in Penticton.
