Overview

  • General manager Patrik Allvin announced Elias Pettersson was placed on injured reserve retroactive to Dec. 5 with an upper-body injury, and Marco Rossi was activated.
  • Rossi is expected to dress today against the Devils and, per The Athletic’s Thomas Drance, open between Jake DeBrusk and Brock Boeser on the top line.
  • Rossi arrives as a key piece from the trade that sent captain Quinn Hughes to the Wild, a deal that also brought Zeev Buium, Liam Öhgren and a 2026 first-round pick.
  • The 24-year-old center last played Nov. 11 due to a lower-body injury and has 13 points in 17 games this season, with 49 goals and 114 points in 202 NHL games.
  • Pettersson has missed three games, traveled with the team and can return once cleared under IR rules, as the 11-17-3 Canucks hold the NHL’s worst record.
