The government points to UN delivery channels alongside planned G7 diplomacy in Paris this month.

Overview

  • Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand and International Development Secretary of State Randeep Sarai announced the funding for civilians affected by the IsraelHezbollah fighting.
  • The money will be delivered through UN agencies, the Red Cross and NGOs to provide shelter, food, clean water and medical supplies, with Canadian partners including International Medical Corps, Humanity & Inclusion and Oxfam Quebec.
  • Canada continues to call for an immediate end to the hostilities in Lebanon and urges all parties to uphold international humanitarian law.
  • Since Feb. 28, nearly 8,000 Canadians, permanent residents and family members have returned to Canada, and the government has helped move about 1,000 people to safe third countries.
