- CBC/Radio‑Canada has opened an application portal to find Canada’s first Eurovision performer and will narrow applicants to a shortlist for a public online vote combined with an industry jury.
- The application window closes Sept. 9, 2026, and applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents, at least 18 by May 1, 2027, able to travel internationally and pass standard checks.
- For this inaugural year the broadcaster is prioritizing artists with proven live skill, strong vocals and large digital followings and has ruled out staging a televised national final.
- The artist will be chosen before the song is written and will work with established songwriters to develop a primarily English–French entry that must clear Eurovision’s eligibility vetting in March 2027.
