Campact Raises €2.5 Million to Counter AfD in Eastern State Elections

The group will split the funds equally, using half for its own campaign work with the other half financing roughly 40 local democracy projects to boost grassroots outreach before the votes.

Overview

  • Campact says its NoAfD-Fonds has exceeded €2.5 million from more than 60,000 donors and will allocate the money equally between its own national campaign actions and local initiatives.
  • About 40 projects are already receiving support for democracy education in schools, poster drives, demonstrations and rural cultural events to reach voters outside big cities.
  • Allied organizations have booked hundreds of poster sites, produced nearly a million printed materials and organised concert and mobilisation plans to increase public visibility for pro-democracy messages.
  • Campact frames the fundraising as a counterweight to the AfD’s own stated campaign budget of about €1.5 million in Sachsen-Anhalt while polls show the AfD with roughly 41% support there and 36% in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
  • Organisers say the effort aims to strengthen local outreach where AfD support is high and could influence turnout and public visibility in ways that shape post-election coalition options.
