Overview
- The Navy’s hydrography office issued Special Notice No. 11-26 forecasting moderate anomalous seas along much of Peru’s coast through March 30.
- The Provincial Municipality of Callao then temporarily closed the Costa Verde’s north-to-south lanes within its jurisdiction as a preventive step, and the restriction remains in place.
- Officials reported seawater, sand and other debris reaching the roadway, which they said makes driving unsafe on that stretch.
- The closure applies only to the Callao segment, while other Costa Verde sections in Lima remain open and drivers are urged to take alternate routes.
- Municipal crews will assess any damage and clear the debris, and the road will reopen only after conditions are verified as safe.
