Caesar Found in Dollywood Eagle Search With Two Still Missing

The rescue refocuses a two-week hunt for non-releasable birds cared for by the American Eagle Foundation.

Overview

  • Caesar was recovered Saturday evening and identified by his orange leg band marked SE after community sighting reports guided searchers.
  • Two eagles, Rockland and Wesley, are still unaccounted for as the American Eagle Foundation monitors tips around the clock and asks the public to report sightings.
  • A severe storm on April 19 uprooted a tree that damaged the Eagle Mountain Sanctuary aviary, and three birds escaped during an emergency relocation.
  • Handlers moved 26 of 29 eagles to the foundation’s Kodak, Tennessee facility for safekeeping, and the eagle show area at the park remains closed for repairs.
  • The rest of Dollywood continues normal operations, including its Flower & Food Festival through June 7, but conservation shows are paused because these rescued birds cannot survive on their own.
