Overview
- Cadillac confirmed Friday it will run test driver Colton Herta in four FP1 sessions this season, with his F1 weekend debut at Barcelona on June 12-14.
- The FP1 program uses F1’s rookie rule that requires each race driver to give up two Friday practices, so Herta will fill in for Sergio Pérez or Valtteri Bottas.
- Herta left IndyCar to race Formula 2 with Hitech in 2026 and opened with seventh in the Australia feature, adding points toward the 40 needed for an FIA super licence.
- A revised F2 schedule added Montreal on the Indianapolis 500 weekend, which rules out an Indy 500 entry for Herta as he keeps F2 as his priority.
- Team principal Graeme Lowdon and CEO Dan Towriss said the sessions aim to build Herta’s car development role and teach him the flow of a full Grand Prix weekend.
