Cabinet Clears Delhi Metro Phase V(A) — 16 Km, 13 Stations for Rs 12,015 Crore

Officials set a three-year delivery goal, though previous phases faced delays.

Overview

  • The plan adds three corridors totaling about 16 km, with 13 stations, to densify central links and plug key gaps in the network.
  • The largest section is the 9.9 km RK Ashram Marg–Indraprastha corridor (Rs 9,570.4 crore) with stations including Central Secretariat, Kartavya Bhawan, India Gate and Bharat Mandapam.
  • Two shorter extensions were approved: Aerocity–Terminal 1 at 2.263 km (Rs 1,419.6 crore) and Tughlakabad–Kalindi Kunj at 3.9 km (Rs 1,024.8 crore).
  • In total, 10 stations will be underground and three elevated, with the government projecting an annual reduction of roughly 33,000 tonnes of CO2.
  • Funding will be shared by the Centre, the Delhi government and international lenders including JICA, as Phase IV priority corridors near phased commissioning by December 2026.
