Overview
- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the four projects on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, authorising new and upgraded corridors in Odisha, Telangana, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh with a combined capital cost just over ₹24,200 crore.
- Odisha will get a new 160.18 km Rameshwar–Paradeep coastal highway on the Hybrid Annuity Model at ₹8,300.79 crore with a four‑lane Rameshwar–Konark section and a two‑lane Konark–Paradeep section that the government says will cut travel time by about 2 hours 30 minutes.
- Telangana’s 190.76 km programme, budgeted at ₹7,597.16 crore, will widen NH‑63 and NH‑563 to four lanes using a mix of HAM and Build‑Operate‑Transfer (BOT) toll concessions and is projected to shorten key journeys by about 45–90 minutes.
- Bihar’s Khagaria–Purnea upgrade (143.53 km, ₹3,936.05 crore) and Madhya Pradesh’s NH‑347B works (233.65 km, ₹4,415.60 crore) include greenfield bypasses, aim to fix geometric and congestion problems, and are planned under BOT or HAM financing models.
- All approvals are planning milestones that still require tendering, land acquisition and contractor appointments before construction begins and the government says the projects will improve logistics performance, cut emissions and generate construction jobs locally.
