C P Radhakrishnan Sworn In as India’s 15th Vice-President

His 452–300 victory in Parliament fills the Rajya Sabha chair vacated by Jagdeep Dhankhar’s July resignation.

  • President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath at Rashtrapati Bhavan with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior dignitaries in attendance, and Jagdeep Dhankhar made his first public appearance since stepping down.
  • Returning officer PC Mody reported that 767 MPs voted, 752 ballots were valid and the required majority was 377, with Radhakrishnan defeating B. Sudershan Reddy 452 to 300.
