Overview
- Police tried to stop a white GMC Sierra reported stolen out of Dedham, the vehicle fled the attempted stop and later ran a red light before crashing into another car at Revere Beach Parkway and Winthrop Avenue.
- The driver fled the crash scene on foot and was found hiding under a tarp behind a nearby condo after nearby citizens helped officers locate him.
- Revere police identified the suspect as 34-year-old Kenneth Armstrong of Everett and said he faces roughly 10 charges, including reckless operation and receiving a stolen motor vehicle, plus five outstanding warrants.
- Both Armstrong and the other motorist were taken to the hospital for possible injuries and Armstrong was scheduled for an arraignment from his hospital bed as the case remains under active investigation.
- Video from the scene shows officers approaching the crashed pickup with guns drawn, and police said the stop was prompted by a BOLO alert, a routine notice that tells officers to look for reported stolen vehicles.
