Burst Holland Park Water Main Floods Homes as Thames Water Works to Restore Supply

Thames Water crews report the leak is contained with supply restoration underway across affected postcodes.

Overview

  • Properties in W1H, W4, W6, W8, W11, W12, W13 and W14 continue to face low pressure or no water as engineers restore the network.
  • Thames Water estimates about 2,000 properties lost supply, confirms 27 properties flooded, and says roughly 600 litres per second initially escaped from the main.
  • Around 25 residents were evacuated by firefighters using an inflatable boat with no injuries reported, and flooding reached up to 1 metre affecting more than 50 homes and a hotel.
  • Holland Park Avenue and the A3220 West Cross Route remain subject to closures and controls, causing significant local traffic disruption during safety and clean-up work.
  • Kensington and Chelsea and Hounslow councils are assisting displaced residents and planning recovery efforts, and Thames Water advises affected customers to call 0800 316 9800 for support.
