Burnley Unveils Cream Away Kit Co-Designed by J.J. Watt

Owner J.J. Watt helped revive a vintage crest and local architectural motifs to tie the kit to Burnley’s history ahead of the club’s return to the Championship.

Overview

  • Burnley released a club video called “The Cream Rises” on Friday, July 31, unveiling a cream-colored away kit that J.J. Watt helped design.
  • The jersey features a cream base with horizontal red and green stripes and a revived vintage crest first used in 1979 and returned in later years.
  • Castore manufactured the kit and Burnley says the design includes a subtle geometric pattern inspired by the stonework at Gawthorpe Hall.
  • The club has scheduled the kit’s on-field debut for Sunday, August 2 in a home friendly against Torino and is offering limited collector’s boxes and signed photos to early buyers.
  • Watt, who has been a minority co-owner since 2023, says he spent two years on the design and framed his role as a temporary steward aiming to boost local engagement and honor club tradition.
