Burnham Hosts Zelenskyy and Transfers Stone Cloak IP to Ukraine

London handed Kyiv the design for a tablet-sized drone jammer to let Ukraine mass-produce the device.

Overview

  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met Prime Minister Andy Burnham at Portsmouth Naval Base on Monday, July 27, in the first foreign leader visit since Burnham became prime minister.
  • Downing Street confirmed the UK will transfer the Stone Cloak intellectual property so Ukraine can mass-manufacture tablet-sized electronic jammers that limit Russian radar tracking of drones.
  • The Ministry of Defence has already supplied thousands of the Stone Cloak units to Ukrainian forces and the IP handover is intended to scale frontline production locally.
  • Burnham pledged that UK support “remains unwavering,” met more than 200 Ukrainian personnel taking part in three weeks of Exercise Sea Breeze training, and signalled follow-up work on air-defence and joint defence production.
  • UK officials said battlefield use of Stone Cloak will feed into Britain’s next-generation strike projects such as Project Brakestop and the move could speed up shared manufacturing, inform procurement and help protect Ukrainian drone crews.
