Overview
- The Burgspektakel runs from Friday 17 July to Sunday 19 July with opening hours of Friday 16:00–22:00, Saturday 11:00–22:00 and Sunday 11:00–18:00 and tickets priced at €10/€5 on Friday, €15/€8 on Saturday and Sunday and €35/€15 for a weekend pass.
- The programme includes mounted jousts, full-contact Buhurt fights, falconry flight shows, fire and aerial acrobatics, walking acts and multiple medieval bands such as Unvermeydbar, Irregang, Aetas Arcana and Gebrüder Schlimm.
- The event is organised by Förderkreis Burg Vondern in partnership with promoter Festa Medievale, which took over organisation in 2023 and has confirmed participation by more than 50 costumed re-enactment groups (Heerlager).
- Parking at the castle is limited so organisers recommend using shuttle buses that run from the Olgapark Park-and-Ride on Saturday and Sunday at roughly 30-minute intervals and the city bus line 957, which stops at Burg Vondern.
- Held on the fenced castle lawns and drawing thousands of visitors, the Burgspektakel is presented as one of Germany’s larger medieval gatherings and offers family and concession pricing to support access and the site’s preservation.
