Overview
- The airport plans to open the new 355,000-square-foot single terminal with 14 gates on Oct. 13, 2026, completing the Elevate BUR project.
- Officials say the redesign increases the distance from the nearest runway from about 257 feet to roughly 880 feet to meet current FAA design rules and state seismic standards.
- The new building moves outdoor baggage claim indoors, shortens the longest walk from 1,600 feet to 1,285 feet, adds modern TSA checkpoints and more retail and food options, and features public art by Cliff Garten and Glenn Kaino.
