Overview
- Bungie, which confirmed the June 2 start on Wednesday, also set a full Season 2 reveal for the week of May 25.
- Season 2 delivers the game’s first full wipe—a reset common to extraction shooters—clearing levels, faction progress, inventories and most currencies to level the field, while preserving cosmetics, codex progress, unlocked faction access, LUX/SILK balances and Rewards Pass progress; Season 2 also grants tiered Sponsored Kits based on your Season 1 Runner Level (10, 25, 50, 75).
- To ease the transition, an end‑of‑season update boosts loot starting May 19 with guaranteed map events and Warden key drops, opens the Cryo Archive map daily from May 21 to June 2 with a free Sponsored Kit each day, and runs a Cryo Archive Ranked event May 24–28.
- Season 2 trials include a PvE‑leaning mode at launch and a PvE‑only mode later in the season, plus faster faction progression, a larger vault, the Night Marsh zone, a new Runner shell, new weapons, and The Cradle system for shell stat tuning.
- Bungie’s roadmap targets onboarding fixes in Season 3, deeper extraction‑loop changes in Season 4, and a broader mix of PvP, PvPvE, and PvE in Season 5, as Sony notes the game’s underperformance but says support will continue.
