Bulega and Ducati Dominate Misano WorldSBK Test

Strong lap times suggest Ducati hold a technical edge that will influence team setup choices before Aragon.

Overview

  • Nicolo Bulega led the two-day Misano test on May 20–21 by a clear margin, recording a best lap of 1:31.769 on Day 2 that was faster than the existing race lap record and within a tenth of the circuit pole time.
  • Ducati machines filled the top positions across both days with Aruba.it riders Bulega and Iker Lecuona fastest overall and other Panigale riders including Yari Montella and Sam Lowes also occupying the front places.
  • Testing at Misano focused on setup, tyres and aero work so teams could validate race-weekend form, and Ducati used the sessions to consolidate a workplan that looks likely to carry into Aragon and the Emilia Romagna round.
  • Rider fitness moved forward during the test as Jake Dixon completed his first laps since suffering wrist fractures at Phillip Island and Iker Lecuona escaped an afternoon crash without reported serious injury.
  • Other manufacturers used the outing to trial updates and collect data, with Kawasaki bringing new components, BMW running van der Mark and Soomer while shared riders recover, and Barni Spark debuting a Suter-developed double-sided Ducati swingarm.
