Buenos Aires Province Raises VTV Inspection Fees 21.8% as New Rates Take Effect

Officials say the tariff is set by a formula that keeps the fee at 7% of a mechanic’s base salary negotiated under SMATA.

Overview

  • The increase took effect on January 16, setting the basic car fee at ARS 97,057.65 with VAT included.
  • New published tariffs are ARS 38,823.06 for motorcycles, ARS 174,703.77 for vehicles over 2,500 kg, ARS 58,234.59 for light trailers, and ARS 87,351.89 for heavy trailers.
  • The inspection remains compulsory for private cars and motorcycles older than two years or with more than 60,000 km, and it applies to commercial vehicles.
  • Exemptions include municipal and firefighters’ vehicles, and owners with disabilities are not charged for the procedure.
  • Driving without a valid VTV can be fined 300–1,000 Unidades Fijas—up to about ARS 1,807,000 at the current UF value—and appointments must be booked through the official VTV website.
