Overview
- Education authorities in Buenos Aires Province and in the City of Buenos Aires authorized May tuition caps on Thursday following an April update to fee bands.
- The province permits increases of up to 3.5% and the city allows up to 5% for subsidized private schools, which will appear on May invoices sent to families.
- In the province, primary caps run from $34,030 at 100% subsidy to $153,860 at 40%, and secondary caps run from $37,520 to $199,920.
- Schools must show on each bill the percentage of state subsidy they receive under Resolution 34/17, which aims to make fees clearer to families.
- AIEPA says salary hikes of 17.6% since December were only partly reflected in fees at about 13.5% and that unpaid retroactive items near 30% remain, leaving the sector financially strained.
