Buenos Aires Province Hands San Isidro Riverfront Control, Adds Patrols and New UTOI Base

The pact moves fee collection to the city for reinvestment in free public spaces, signaling a local-led approach to security and coastal access.

Overview

  • Governor Axel Kicillof and Mayor Ramón Lanús announced the transfer of tenure and administration for roughly 50 hectares of coastal land across 15 parcels to San Isidro.
  • The agreement makes the municipality the exclusive collector of the occupancy canon, with all proceeds earmarked for free, public spaces under the Plan Costero.
  • Authorities said limited complementary uses such as gastronomic, nautical, sports or cultural services may be authorized provided the coast’s natural character is preserved.
  • The province delivered 11 new patrol vehicles financed by the Provincial Security Strengthening Fund, and the municipality will cover maintenance and fuel to keep them operational.
  • Kicillof confirmed a new UTOI tactical base for the district and defended ongoing provincial security investment while criticizing national resource cuts, noting more than 9,500 vehicles delivered during his administration.
