Overview
- The Ministry of Health of Buenos Aires province imposed a preventive closure on Clínica San Juan Bautista after confirming it dumped pathological waste in public areas in violation of national and provincial laws
- Policía Ecológica y Científica executed a July 5 raid under a Juzgado de Garantías N°4 warrant at the request of UFI N°6 and seized 55 black bags, including 32 containing type B pathological waste
- Recovered materials comprised bloodied gauzes, needles, syringes, catheters, used diapers and medications that lacked mandatory manifests or approval by an authorized waste transporter
- Investigators identified the clinic’s administrative, medical and directorial staff during the operation and said they may face criminal charges for negligent or intentional mishandling of hazardous waste
- The facility remains open solely to care for existing inpatients but is barred from admitting new patients until it demonstrates full compliance with waste-management regulations
