Buenos Aires Bus Line 148 Halts Again After Partial Restart as Labor Dispute Erupts

The stoppage shows unresolved labor issues still threaten the line’s return.

Overview

  • Service on Line 148 stopped Tuesday in an open-ended strike, only ten days after a May 1 restart under the Misión Buenos Aires brand of Grupo Zbikoski.
  • Drivers say management filed arbitrary reports, reassigned them to other routes, and failed to provide bathrooms at terminals, and on Wednesday they reported being blocked from entering the depot.
  • The company cites a CNRT inspection on Monday that found buses in good condition, alleges delegates damaged vehicles, and says 20 new units entered service with more being built.
  • Only six core branches were restored in this first phase and night runs remain suspended, forcing many riders into extra transfers, higher daily costs, and riskier late trips home.
  • The line was reassigned by the national Transport Secretariat to La Central de Vicente López rather than rival operator DOTA after the collapse of El Nuevo Halcón, and the unresolved dispute threatens further delays in fully rebuilding service.
