BTSE Launches Licensed Crypto Exchange in Indonesia

An OJK PAKD license gives the platform access to rupiah payment rails and a regulatory path for additional products pending approval.

Overview

  • The launch, which took place Friday, July 3, 2026, rebrands regulated local exchange NVX as BTSE Indonesia and formally establishes the joint venture with PT Aset Kripto Internasional.
  • OJK issued a PAKD license that authorizes BTSE Indonesia to operate as a Digital Financial Assets and Crypto Assets Trading Operator and requires the platform to follow AML and customer asset protection rules.
  • The license allows the exchange to connect with Indonesian banks and payment providers to support IDR deposits, withdrawals, currency conversions, and IDR-denominated trading pairs.
  • BTSE Group will supply the core trading technology, liquidity, and infrastructure while the local partner will run commercial operations including user acquisition, partnerships, marketing, and sales.
  • Regulatory tightening in June 2026 introduced rules requiring influencer competency certification and limiting promotions to assets listed on authorized exchanges, and BTSE says the license creates a route to offer futures and other regulated products if regulators approve them.
