BTS’ Sold-Out Stanford Stadium Shows Begin Saturday

Extra trains, road closures and strict entry rules are set as Stanford prepares for crowds topping 150,000.

Overview

  • The three-night run at Stanford Stadium begins Saturday, May 16, with about 53,000 fans expected each night and concerts scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m.
  • Caltrain is adding an extra northbound post-event train and running two K-pop–themed trips to Palo Alto, which is a 20-minute walk from the venue and the only station in use for these shows.
  • Drivers must buy parking passes in advance by midnight on show days, with general lots opening at 1:30 p.m. and campus closures affecting parts of Arboretum Road, Lasuen Street and Galvez Street.
  • Stanford Stadium will enforce a clear-bag policy and cashless payments, will ban items like large bags and professional cameras, and will feature permitted fireworks with shows ending by the 10 p.m. curfew.
  • Officials expect a local boost comparable to last year’s Coldplay dates, which generated an estimated $2.5 million in state and local taxes and filled hotels, restaurants and temporary event jobs.
