Overview
- Jordan and Cian Adams finished a marathon a day across all 32 Irish counties plus a London start, crossing the final line in Merrion Square, Dublin on Thursday 28 May.
- Their campaign has raised about €1.7 million for the Alzheimer Society of Ireland and The FTD Foundation and drew large crowds in towns and cities across Ireland.
- Both brothers carry a rare MAPT gene linked to familial frontotemporal dementia that has killed 12 relatives and gives them a very high risk of developing early-onset FTD.
- They met Tánaiste Simon Harris after the finale and said they will use donors’ money and the stories they gathered to press for targeted research spending, improved welfare for families and a formal briefing to the Dáil.
- Jordan plans to publish a memoir next January and the brothers intend further public challenges while campaigning on practical pressures caused by FTD, including family planning, insurance and long-term care gaps.
