Overview
- TGL and Motor City Golf Club announced Wednesday, Aug. 26 that Brooks Koepka is the first player signed to the Detroit-backed expansion franchise that will begin play in the 2027 season.
- Motor City Golf Club is led by Middle West Partners principals Michael Hamp, Peter Hamp and Kevin Kelleher and maintains downtown Detroit office space as part of efforts to build a local fan base.
- Koepka rejoined the PGA Tour in January through the Returning Member Program after more than three years on LIV Golf and accepted financial and eligibility penalties to return.
- TGL plays all matches at the SoFi Center, a purpose-built $50 million indoor simulator venue designed for television, and Koepka said he was drawn to its energy, pace and team atmosphere after attending matches there.
- The team will announce the rest of its four-player inaugural roster later, and Koepka’s signing underscores TGL’s city-branded expansion strategy and offers players a high-profile competitive option outside traditional tour events.
