Broncos Say Bo Nix Is Ahead of Schedule, On Track for OTAs

A healthy spring would speed his work with new receiver Jaylen Waddle.

Overview

  • General manager George Paton said at Monday's NFL owners meetings in Phoenix that Bo Nix is running and jumping and should practice in OTAs in early May.
  • Owner Greg Penner said he has no concerns about Nix taking part in OTAs and credited the rehab support led by vice president of player health Beau Lowery.
  • Nix fractured his right ankle on Jan. 17 in the divisional-round win over the Bills, had surgery days later, and missed the AFC Championship Game for his first career absence.
  • Head coach Sean Payton set a softer offseason ramp-up to ease players into football work, a plan that could help Nix rejoin drills without setbacks.
  • Denver traded for Jaylen Waddle this offseason, and having Nix for full-field spring reps could speed their timing and, if progress continues, set up longer-term contract talks down the line.
