Overview
- Snow is expected this morning across much of Scotland and parts of northern England, with higher ground in Wales also at risk, according to the Met Office.
- Motorists are advised to ensure brakes, heating systems, tyres and windscreen wipers are in good working order before setting out.
- Keeping at least half a tank of fuel helps limit condensation and the chance of fuel-line freezing in cold weather.
- Maintaining higher fuel reserves provides capacity to run heaters and lights and to manage longer journeys if disruption occurs.
- The Met Office says Friday will be rather cloudy and breezy with rain and hill snow lingering in the northeast and more persistent rain developing toward the southwest.
