Overview
- RGIA customer support received a bomb-threat email for British Airways BA 277 from Heathrow on Monday, and the aircraft landed safely in Hyderabad before security checks cleared it to depart back to London.
- A separate email targeting KLM flight KL 873 from Amsterdam late Sunday was declared a hoax after checks, and the aircraft later departed from Hyderabad for Amsterdam.
- Cyberabad police say cases have been registered, half a dozen email-threat cases have been concluded, and they have leads in others after approximately 30 such emails in the past year.
- Airport and security teams activated standard protocols in each instance, including isolating aircraft, screening passengers and baggage, deploying sniffer dogs, and keeping fire engines on standby.
- Earlier December incidents included threats to Emirates EK526, Kuwait Airways KU 373 returning to origin, and Indigo flights, with a Madina–Hyderabad service diverted to Ahmedabad.
