BRIT 56 Tips Off With Big Wins as Dakota and Holy Cross Move On

  • The 56th Bedford Road Invitational Tournament opened to a packed Kelly Bowers Gymnasium, with 12 boys’ teams from Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta and B.C. competing over three days.
  • Opening-day results included Winnipeg Dakota over host Bedford Road 77–47, Holy Cross over Carson Graham 74–41, Collingwood over St. Joseph 78–42 and Winnipeg Maples over Regina Martin 77–49.
  • Friday’s championship-side matchups are Dakota vs. Collingwood (3:30 p.m.), Walter Murray vs. Calgary Sir Winston Churchill (5 p.m.), Magrath vs. Prince Albert Carlton (6:30 p.m.) and Holy Cross vs. Maples (8 p.m.).
  • Tickets are sold at the door, the weekend pass now costs $25, and student-led features include team murals, school-made merchandise and a Saturday noon dance showcase.
  • Winnipeg Dakota is making its long-awaited BRIT appearance 46 years after a late withdrawal, while Holy Cross pursues a title after back-to-back finals losses in 2024 and 2025.
