Bomb disposal specialists are working to make the item safe following its handover to the Broadbury Road front desk.

  • Avon and Somerset Police said an object appearing to be a hand grenade was brought to Broadbury Road Police Station at about 3.40pm on Friday.
  • Officers implemented a precautionary partial evacuation of the building and closed Broadbury Road with a cordon outside the station.
  • An Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit was called to assess the object and render it safe.
  • The force reported that no homes were evacuated during the response.
  • As of 6.14pm, local reporting indicated the cordon remained in place as the assessment continued.
