Brisbane Kitchen Hand Charged With Attempted Murder After Easts Leagues Club Knife Attack

Police say he returned hours after being dismissed over alleged unwanted attention toward a 20-year-old waitress.

Overview

  • Queensland Police charged Cameron William Leslie Clark, 33, with attempted murder, unlawful stalking and related offences after the Thursday evening attack in Coorparoo.
  • Investigators say he concealed a large carving knife and attacked the waitress in a hallway before striking again in the dining room as about 40 patrons were present.
  • The waitress sustained serious head and arm injuries requiring surgery, a 61-year-old chef was stabbed in the stomach, and a 41-year-old diner suffered a 4cm laceration.
  • Bystanders, mostly staff, restrained the suspect until officers arrived, and police seized a carving knife they allege was not sourced from the club.
  • The accused remains under guard ahead of a Brisbane Magistrates Court appearance on Monday, the club has reopened, and the injured are being treated at Princess Alexandra Hospital.
