Overview

  • Christian Yelich, out since April 12 with a left groin strain, was activated Tuesday for the Padres game as Milwaukee optioned Tyler Black to Triple-A Nashville.
  • With Yelich back alongside Jackson Chourio and Andrew Vaughn, the Brewers have their top bats together for the first time this season.
  • During Yelich’s month on the IL, Milwaukee went 14-9 but hit .242/.330/.332 with the lowest slugging in MLB and ranked last in home runs entering play May 12.
  • Yelich said he returned a little ahead of schedule after a few days of swings and running cleared him to play.
  • Manager Pat Murphy said it felt good to have Yelich back, and the club noted pitcher Quinn Priester will resume a rehab assignment Saturday with outfielder Brandon Lockridge aiming to return a couple of weeks later.
