Brendan Gaughan to Return for One-Off Truck Series Start at Naval Base Coronado

The family-backed entry will spotlight the military community during NASCAR’s inaugural street-course race on an active naval base.

Overview

  • McAnally-Hilgemann Racing announced that Gaughan will drive the No. 20 South Point Chevrolet Silverado in the Navy 250 at Naval Base Coronado on June 19 at 7 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.
  • The run will be Gaughan’s first NASCAR start of any kind since 2020 and his first Truck Series start since 2013, marking a planned one-off return to competition.
  • South Point Hotel & Casino, the family business Gaughan is part of, will sponsor the entry and reconnects him with Bill McAnally, a long-time collaborator from his early career.
  • Gaughan brings deep Truck Series experience to the event, including 217 previous NCTS starts and eight wins, and he framed the appearance as a chance for NASCAR to honor the military.
  • The Coronado layout is a new street course on an active naval base that presents unique challenges for drivers and spotters and could raise TV exposure for the sport and its military-focused ceremony.
