Brazil’s Pre-Salt Oil Take by the Union Doubled in 2025, PPSA Reports

PPSA attributes the surge to ramp-ups at flagship Santos Basin FPSOs.

Overview

  • The Union received 55.5 million barrels of oil in 2025 under production-sharing and unitization agreements, up from 27.9 million in 2024.
  • Mero led oil contributions with 36.44 million barrels, followed by Sépia with 6.49 million and Búzios with 2.85 million, driven by the Marechal Duque de Caxias and Almirante Tamandaré FPSOs.
  • The Union’s 2025 natural gas share reached 137 million m³, more than doubling year over year, with Sépia as the largest source at 76.17 million m³.
  • December set records for the Union’s take at 186,000 barrels per day of oil and 624,000 m³ of gas, as Búzios units returned from planned maintenance.
  • Most 2025 oil volumes were pre-sold at B3 auctions, the Union averaged 147,000 barrels per day last year, and PPSA projects daily receipts rising to 188,000 in 2026, 260,000 in 2027, and 410,000 in 2028, with potential to exceed 500,000 by 2033.
