Brazil Sets New Oil and Gas Output Record in February

Pre-salt gains powered the jump.

Overview

  • ANP, which released the data Wednesday, said February output reached 5.304 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, topping the previous high set in October 2025.
  • Crude production hit a record 4.061 million barrels per day, up 16.4% from February 2025 and 2.7% above January, with growth led by fields run by Petrobras.
  • The deepwater pre-salt zone off Brazil supplied 80.2% of national output at 4.243 million boe per day, recording 20.1% year-over-year growth.
  • Natural gas production rose to 197.63 million cubic meters per day, yet producers reinjected 107.77 million, sent 65.42 million to market, used 18.61 million on site, and flared 5.82 million, which limits near-term supply to buyers.
  • By concessionaire, Petrobras produced 2.459 million barrels per day, Shell 420,140, and TotalEnergies 183,020, underscoring the concentration of output among these operators.
