Brazil Raises Federal Workers’ Meal Allowance to R$1,192

• Portaria 2.756/2026, published Wednesday in the Diário Oficial da União, the government’s official gazette, set the federal meal allowance at R$ 1,192.
• The R$ 17 difference from the R$ 1,175 paid earlier in April will be added to the April paycheck, which is deposited in early May, the management ministry said.
• The ministry said the change came out of the Mesa Nacional de Negociação Permanente, a standing forum where the government negotiates with public‑servant representatives.
• The government reported a cumulative 160% rise in the meal allowance from 2023 to 2026, reflecting successive updates over the period.
