  • An interministerial order in the Official Gazette created the Rede Nacional de Enfrentamento ao Tráfico de Armas (Renarme) on Tuesday.
  • The order was signed by Justice Minister Wellington César Lima e Silva, Defense Minister José Múcio, and Finance Minister Fernando Haddad.
  • Participating bodies include the National Secretariat of Public Security, the Federal Police, the Federal Highway Police, the Army’s Logistics Command, the Federal Revenue Service, and state civil police.
  • Mandates cover system integration, enhanced intelligence, oversight, investigations, joint operations, and shared data on weapons, ammunition, accessories, and explosives.
  • The measure establishes a coordinating role without hierarchical control over agencies and allows additional public or private entities to join.
