Overview
- INMET, which renewed Sunday alerts into early Monday in some areas, kept hundreds of municipalities under watch including 189 in Maranhão and more than 150 in Piauí with additional notices in Ceará, Pernambuco and Paraíba.
- Forecasts called for rain of 20 to 30 millimeters per hour or up to 50 millimeters in a day with gusts of 40 to 60 km/h and a risk of flash flooding, fallen trees, power outages and lightning.
- Higher-severity orange alerts targeted pockets such as Caracaraí and Rorainópolis in Roraima and parts of the Baixo Amazonas in Pará with 30 to 60 millimeters per hour and winds that could approach 100 km/h.
- State meteorology and civil defense teams continued real-time monitoring of rivers and urban flooding, with the Tapajós in Santarém at 6.28 meters and still below the 7.10-meter municipal alert level.
- Authorities urged people to avoid shelter under trees, steer clear of flooded roads, unplug electronics during storms and use emergency contacts for Civil Defense at 199 or the Fire Department at 193.
