Brazil Auto Market Surges in March as Production Hits Highest Level Since 2019

Industry leaders keep 2026 targets unchanged despite the exceptional jump.

Overview

  • Brazilian automakers built 264,100 vehicles in March, the highest monthly output since October 2019, Anfavea said Wednesday.
  • New vehicle registrations reached 269,500 in March, up 46% from February and 38% from a year earlier, Fenabrave reported Tuesday.
  • Motorcycle makers produced 561,448 units in the first quarter, including a record 212,716 in March, Abraciclo said Thursday.
  • Registrations of electrified cars and SUVs hit about 100,000 in the first quarter, nearly double last year’s pace, according to Anfavea.
  • Industry groups credited more working days, heavy dealer promotions, and federal incentives like Carro Sustentável, yet warned that truck demand faces headwinds as March exports rose to 40,400 but first‑quarter shipments fell 18.5% and dealers said Move Brasil funds were exhausted.
